AMICA BENJAMIN is a 26-year civil servant with the NYC Employees’ Retirement System (NYCERS), New York City Police Department (NYPD), and now Financial Information Services Agency Office of Payroll Administration (FISA-OPA).

Amica started as a Principal Administrative Associate II in 2015. She was first elected as a Shop Steward in 2017. She has been an Administrative Manager since 2022 and first became a CWA Local 1180 Executive Board Member-at-Large that same year.

She is actively involved with multiple CWA Local 1180 committees, including the Committee on People with Disabilities, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island Borough Community Coordinating committees, Civil Rights and Equity Member/Community Services Committee, and Hispanic Committee. She is a delegate to the CWA Public, Healthcare & Education Workers (PHEW) sector, and a member of the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) NYC Chapter.

Amica holds a Master’s Degree in Labor Studies from the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (2021).
